Access to MRI

The size of the Magnet (“Bore size”) should not shut people out of having and MRI. Since 2003 Open & Wide MRI has made it a mission to accommodate large and claustrophobic patients. Our most recent investment in the New Free Max by Siemens has made the task of getting an MRI less daunting. Being leaders in this industry and installing the first Free Max in the state of Indiana for public use is how Open & Wide MRI is truly caring for our patients.

What is MRI?

Magnetic resonance imaging or MRI is a non-invasive medical imaging test that produces detailed images of almost every internal structure in the human body, including the organs, bones, muscles and blood vessels. MRI scanners create images of the body using a large magnet and radio waves. It can be especially helpful to collect pictures of soft tissue such as organs or muscles that don’t show up on an x-ray examination. MRI scans can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions, from torn ligaments to tumors. MRIs are also very useful for examining the brain and spinal cord.

More about our MRI

Our new Magnetom Free.Max Open Bore MRI scanner breaks barriers and expands the reach of MRI technology. Where patients felt discomfort, our new Free.Max is the worlds first 80 cm bore MRI offering improved scanning experiences for all patients. As you can see the well lit room with natural lighting can make all the difference for a patient with claustrophobia. The much larger, short bore, also makes patients struggling with larger body habitus or claustrophobia more at ease. The Free.Max is a .55T magnet but with Siemens new software, boost, we are capable of acquiring the same if not better image quality of a 1.5T magnet.
